LASG: ATTACKING LASTMA OFFICERS IS UNACCEPTABLE

Lagos State Government reiterates that attacking LASTMA officials is absolutely unacceptable.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, condemns the mob attack on a Lagos traffic officer, Ola Oyeshina, while on duty, which led to his untimely death.

He said in his statement that he was saddened by the occurence. “It saddens me to learn that we lost a very diligent and dutiful LASTMA officer, Ola Oyeshina at about 12:40am on Saturday morning after he was stoned on Friday at the Iganmu-Sifax axis at around 5pm.”

Dr Frederic Oladeinde said that this is not the first time a LASTMA officer has been attacked whilst on duty. He therefore give a strict warning to road users in dealing with government officials.

“Under no circumstances, is it acceptable for a LASTMA officer to be assaulted/attacked while working to ease traffic congestion during travel hours.”

He commiserates with the family of the deceased who loss his life while dutifully discharging his service to the public.

“With so much pain in our hearts, we commiserate and send our condolences to Officer Ola Oyeshina’s family; this is indeed a huge loss.”

He however confirms the arrest of the perpetrators of this evil act and Lagos determination to prosecute them accordingly.

“Rest assured that the perpetrators involved have been arrested and will not go unpunished; our legal team are ready to prosecute them.

Traffic offenders must be ready to face the law.”
