Alleged Internet Fraud: Mompha Gets N100m Bail

Mustapha popularly known as Mompha has been granted bail of 100m naira today by a court sitting in Abuja.

Mompha who was charged with allegation of fraud of the total amount of N32.9bn and who has been at the EFCC’s custody since his arrest was granted bail by Justice Newman.

Besides the financial request, the bail condition granted him includes that he submits his international passport to the clerk of the court and must appear before the court at every fortnight in order to be sure that he would not abscond the country.

Three witnesses were present in court, one from the Central Bank of Nigeria who said the apex bank does not recognise any bureau-de-change firm officially linked to the accused. Another witness was from the EFCC while the third spoke in favour of the accused that he has transacted with Mompha’s bureau-de-change firm before.
