Bayelsa and Kogi Elections: Buhari Cautions Voters, Security Agencies to Act According to the Law

President Muhammadu Buhari cautions voters and security officials to exercise their franchise in peaceful and orderly manner and do everything in accordance with the rule of law in the Bayelsa and Kogi elections come Saturday.
Buhari, who is in the UK tasks law enforcement agencies to allow eligible voters to exercise their civic rights without harassment or intimidation and that any attempt to disrupt the process must be stopped using all legal means.
“Law enforcement officials must ensure that citizens are allowed to vote without harassment and intimidation and any attempt to steal or hijack ballots must be stopped using all legal means.” he said.
President Buhari also advice the candidates to seek legal redress after the poll if they are dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections.
In all democratic elections, there are bound to be winners and losers and the elections in Bayelsa and Kogi will not be different.
All candidates should be ready to accept the outcomes and wherever they are dissatisfied, they should follow the due process of the law in seeking redress. There must not be a resort to self-help.
