LASG Intensifies Traffic Law Enforcement

The Lagos State Government has stepped up efforts at ensuring sanity on roads as officials of the State Traffic Enforcement Team continue to enforce the traffic law to achieve seamless vehicular and human movement.

The Special Operation which is a combined effort of the State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), Lagos Task Force on Miscellaneous Offences, OP MESA and Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC), is part of the government’s strategy to sanitise roads and improve traffic management in Lagos.

While carrying out enforcement operations today at Ikeja and along the Third Mainland Bridge, the enforcement team cautioned road users, particularly commercial drivers, to maintain orderliness by desisting from indiscriminate offloading and picking of passengers on the road, insisting that any form of road abuse will not be tolerated.

During the exercise, officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) ensured the freeflow of traffic by controlling vehicular movement while officials of the State Environmental Sanitation Corps and operatives of the Lagos Task Force arrested 15 traffic violators along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja.

The arrested individuals violated the law for failure to use the pedestrian bridge at close proximity and were later taken to LASTMA Headquarters in Oshodi for prosecution.

The enforcement operations which commenced two weeks ago at Iyana Ipaja, Yaba, Oyingbo, Maryland, Ketu and Ikorodu, was extended to Ikeja, Oworonshoki, Adeniji-Adele and Ajah areas of Lagos this week.
