The President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Ahmed Lawan, has called for a national summit.

The Senate President reacted to the motion raised by Senator Ayo Akinyelure about the state of insecurity in Nigeria particularly the recent murder of Funke Orekunrin, the daughter of an elder state man and a leader of Afenifere by unknown gunmen and incessant killing of Nigerians.

At the plenary on Tuesday, Lawan said it is the responsibility of the National Assembly to organise a national summit in order to create avenue for dialogue.

The Senate observed a minute silence for Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s daughter and all victims of insecurity in the country.
