Mikel Obi Signs 2-Years Contract With Turkish Side

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has penned a two years deal with Turkey Super Lig side, Trabzonspor with an agreement of a possible addition of another year.

The deal sees Mikel Obi team up with his former assistant in the Super Eagles, Ogenyi Onazi, and another former Super Eagles invitee, Anthony Nwakaema, with the Turkish giant.

Mikel Obi started his European career with Lyn Oslo in Denmark before he was signed by Chelsea where he won various trophies including the UEFA Champions League. After twelve years with The Blues, he moved to Tianjin Teda, China before returning to Europe with an English Championship side, Middlesborough, where he spent the whole of last season, and now a move to Turkey.

Mikel Obi who is a AFCON cup winner with the Super Eagles in 2013 is currently representing Nigeria again at AFCON in Egypt as the captain.

However, the worth of the deal is not disclosed and the amount of wages to be received by the Nigerian midfielder is also undisclosed.
