Ighalo’s Brilliance Ensure Nigeria Triumph Over Burundi
The game began on a low mode with both teams not creating many chances, although the Eagles dominated both halves.
The first half ended in a goalless draw. The Nigeria national team was trying their best to break the defence of the East African side while Burundi was shooting from long range.
The second half was similar to the first carrying a lot of expectations from the favorite, the Super Eagles.
However, all there tactics were consistently aborted by a compact Burundi’s defence line up.
In the 77th minutes the big striker curled home the only goal of the game with just his second touch on the pitch. The goal was set up through a fantastic back heel pass which beat the back line, from the Super Eagles’ left back, Ola Aina.
After the goal, both team, particularly Burundi search for goals until the last second but to no avail.
The game ended: BURUNDI 0-1 NIGERIA.
As it stands, Nigeria tops the group with 3points and a goal.
