2019 Election: EU Denies Knowing About INEC as PDP claims

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in Nigeria on Saturday mentioned that it knew nothing concerning the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) server that was allegedly used to transmit results of the 2019 general elections.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja on the EU EOM’s report, the Deputy Chief Observer for the EU, Hannah Roberts mentioned the Mission relied on outcomes that had been released by INEC.

Roberts, whereas fielding questions from newsmen,  said the EU Mission in Nigeria was unaware of an INEC server by which results have been transmitted throughout the election.

“The EU needed to rely on INEC’s clarification in result transmission,” she mentioned.

The primary opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (People\'s Democratic Party) had claimed that an INEC server was used to transmit outcomes of the election.

Maria Arena, EU Chief Observer had earlier introduced a final report with suggestions for electoral reforms.

She stated that the EU EOM had 91 observers on floor for the Presidential and Nationwide Assembly elections throughout Nigeria.

Area added that 73 observers had been deployed for the Governorship and State Home of Meeting election whereas solely 20 observers had been used for the supplementary elections.

Following its statement mission, she mentioned the EU EOM had 30 suggestions on methods to enhance future electoral processes in Nigeria.

“The mission concluded that the systemic failings seen in the elections, and the relatively low levels of voter participation, present the necessity for elementary electoral reform.”

The EU report prioritised seven recommendations of the 30, one among which was that Nigeria to Strengthen INEC procedures for the collation of results to improve integrity and confidence in electoral outcomes.

Another advice was that electoral tribunals cover pre-election instances so as to enhance access to treatment and to avoid petitions being taken to completely different courts at the same time.

Nonetheless, Festus Keyamo,  Spokesman,  All Progressives Congress (All Progressive Congress) Presidential Marketing campaign Council, who addressed newsmen afterwards, faulted the EU EOM for not coming to a conclusion in its report.

However, Nigeria News Live has Previously Reported INEC has denied that they do not any election result server that People\'s Democratic Party are requesting for.
