Armed bandits on Saturday chased away mourners from a graveyard in Kagi village, about three kilometres from Science Secondary College Birnin-Gwari, Brinin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria news live reports.

Based on a press release from Brinin Gwari Vanguards for Safety and Good Governance, the incident occurred around 8.40 am, Saturday when family and volunteers as well as handful of Policemen went to Kagi for burial of two victims of armed bandits assault in the village that are on procession to the grave after the funeral prayers.

The statement defined that the gunmen fired shots indiscriminately and the individuals in addition to the police took to their heels and returned to Birnin-Gwari city for security.

It stated later round 12.00 midday, vigilante teams, volunteers numbering about 300 and police went again to Kagi and overpowered the armed bandits to bury these killed in yesterday’s assault.

Recall that armed bandits on Friday attacked Kagi and Kugu farming communities round 6.00 pm, killing two individuals, wounded two others and carted away cows and grains.

“With this assault on peasant farmers at Kagi (Bagoman Daji), simply three kilomitres from Birnin-Gwari city, the potential of armed bandits into Birnin-Gwari city is imminent,” the statement warned.

The individuals called on the Federal and Kaduna State Government as well as safety agencies to deploy extra personnel to guard the lives and property from cruel armed bandits.
