  1. The Oyo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (All Progressive Congress), on Sunday, endorsed the indirect primary ahead of the 2019 general elections in the state. This was sequel to a motion moved by Hon. Olaide Olalere at an extended meeting with Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state and other All Progressive Congress stalwarts. The meeting held at the Agodi Government House, Ibadan.
  2. The trip of a Kaduna-Abuja train carrying about 600 passengers was halted on Sunday near Rijana in Kaduna State after it crushed over 52 cows. However, no human casualty was recorded as the speeding carriage going to Abuja from Rigasa Railway Station hit the cattle at about 11:45 am. The train with registration number KA4 stopped for about 40 minutes and the passengers panicked the entire time.
  3. The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has arrested 10 suspects in Jos, Plateau State, for allegedly pirating about 136 copies of the Holy Bible. The suspects were arrested at the weekend at different bookshops on Ahmadu Bello Way, Terminus, Rwang Pam Street and Bukuru during an anti-piracy raid.
  4. The coach of Libya senior national team, Adel Amrouche has apologised after he accused Nigeria of relying on “Juju” to win their games. Amrouche had, after leading Libya to scoreless draw in Durban against South Africa on Saturday, vowed to beat the Super Eagles in the two legs of African Cup of Nations qualifying games even if they use juju as they always rely on it. But he has now apologized, saying he used the word out of context.
  5. The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum have invited President Muhammadu buhari and other presidential candidates to present to them their programmes and policies for the country ahead of the 2019 elections. Regional leaders who took the decision include Niger Delta leader, Chief Edwin Clark; President-General of Ohanaeze, John Nwodo; Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; President, Middle Belt Forum, Dr Bitrus Pogu and a host of others.
  6. A former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Chris Ekpenyong, has warned that he would expose a former Governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio if the lawmaker dares him. Ekpenyong said he was ready to unleash damning records of the former Governor’s secret deals if he (Akpabio) continued in his campaign of calumny against him.
  7. The presidency has stated that traders are not required to tender their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) before benefitting from the TraderMoni scheme which pays N10,000 to beneficiaries. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a clarification on Sunday, explained that no documentation of any kind was required. He spoke against the backdrop of claims that PVC was a requirement for the loans.
  8. Report says the All Progressives Congress, APC, has adopted indirect primary in the state. The party leadership took the decision at a stakeholders’ meeting, which held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Sunday.
  9. The Presidency has denied allegations that President Muhammadu Buhari declined assent to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018, because he was against e-voting and the use of card readers in the 2019 elections. It made this known on Sunday in a statement issued by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, insisting that the president the number one fan of card reader.
  10. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday declared that contrary to insinuations in certain quarters, his administration had no plans to Islamize Nigeria. Buhari stressed that there was no credible fact to indicate that his administration was out to Islamise Nigeria. The President spoke through the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF) Boss Mustapha while meeting the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Sokoto.
